This refers to a 1995 6 cylinder with AC; 1. usual safety step. Tranny in park, Emergency break on. (chock wheels if you're real safety minded.)
2. Raise passenger side front of vehicle. Remove the right front tire and support the car with a jack stand.
3. Remove the fender lining. (it goes horizontal under the front fender also) You may need to get some of the plastic replacement plugs used to hold it on? Autozone, O'Reilly, Pep Boys, even Wal Mart would have them.
4. loosen the main Power Steering pump bolt (1- 1.5 turns.)
5. loosen the Adjustable bolt on the Power Steering belt bracket. (one with a curved slot in it.)
6. Remove the PS belt.
Locate the idler pully. ( between the Alternator on top and AC compressor on bottom)
7. Loosen the idle wheel bolt. (it point forward toward the front bumper)
8. Loosen the 'big bolt' in the middle of the pully.
9. Slide the whole Pully/Tension Screw toward the front. (be careful the belt will fall in your face sometimes.
Say a cheers for me when you celebrate the christening of the new belt.
disconnect the battery. Remove the alternator belt then disconnect the wires. Unbolt the alternator and remove. Bolt the new alternator in then connect the wires, belt, and battery.
It drives the alternator, power steering, and ac compressor.
It must be replaced every 105,000 miles.
No, but it is recommended. If the belt breaks, valves can get bent.
The 2.5L in a Cirrus has a timing belt, and yes it should be replaced around 100,000 miles.
The alternator on a Chrysler 300m can be replaced by disconnecting the battery, removing the wiring harness from the alternator, and then unbolting it from the mounts. The drive belt can then be slipped off and a new alternator put into place.
For the 2000 Chrysler Cirrus LXi, the serpentine belt routing for the power steering and alternator follows a specific path. The belt typically goes from the crankshaft pulley, around the alternator, then to the power steering pump, and back to the crankshaft. It's important to ensure proper tension and alignment when replacing the belt to avoid any issues with the power steering or alternator function. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for the exact routing diagram and specifications.
No.
It sounds like the alternator belt is slipping with the high electrical load. Tighten or replace the alternator belt.
Yes
how do you replace 1997 alternator belt
There are three main steps behind replacing the alternator on the 1998 Chrysler Concorde. The first is disconnecting the battery cables for safety. Second, is depressing the belt tensioner to allow for the release of the drive belt. Finally the alternator can be unbolted from its bracket for replacement. If the drive belt, idler pulley and tensioner are worn it would be an ideal time to replace this components as part of the install.
