Open the hood. The first thing to remove is the thin, black, plastic shield that runs from one headlight to the other. There are small, round, black, plastic fasteners holding this piece down. Use the blade of a scredriver to pull up the centermost portion of the fastener. Be careful not to break this tab off. Once you raise it up enough, you can grasp it and pull them out. Next remove the two bolts that anchor the headlight assembly. Pull the assembly to the front of the car. Look down and identify the turn signal retainer and bulb assembly. Grasp assembly and slightly twist clockwise and pull the bulb assembly out. Pull out the old bulb abd snap a new bulb into place. Reinstall the bulb assembly by following the directions in reverse.

To replace the turning signal flasher on a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire, first, locate the flasher unit, which is typically found under the dashboard near the steering column. Remove the old flasher by pulling it straight out of the socket. Insert the new flasher into the socket, ensuring it is securely in place. Finally, test the turn signals to confirm they are functioning properly.

Turn on the hazard switch (emergency blinkers). You should hear it under the dashboard on the drivers side. The emergency blinker and turn signal are each controlled by a different relay but the relays look alike. Once you've located the emergency blinker relay, the turn signal relay is nearby.
