How yo take a heater core out of 2002 Lincoln Navigator with 5.8 engine and can you do it without removing inside dashboard?
No you must remove the dashboard. I just had it done on a 1996 Bravada and it cost me $450.00.

if you have already replaced the thermostat ,try replacing the heating core . it's located under the passanger side dash . The heat exchanger is the most expensive part to replace in your heater. The recommended thing to do would be contact a professional and have it installed. Maintaining proper water chemistry is the key to not having to replace it again. I have seen them be ruined in less that a week due to improper balance. Find your owner's manual that came with the heater and they give explicit advice on taking care of your pool heater.
Go buy a service manual. This procedure is difficult. It includes taking the whole dash off.

Be very careful when you disconnect them, stock heater core had plastic pipes , twisting or bending the hose can break the pipes, then you will have to replace the core. I just complted this job and it is not too bad if you have the right tech sources. If interested sign up for the online tech manual alldat.com. the cost is $14.95 a year but well worth it. Remove the two heater hoses at the firewall and flush the heater core through there.
No, there'no other way. If your car has no aircon the job is does not take to long and isn't too difficult - wth aircon that's another story... Alternatively you can bypass the heater element in the engine room, tricky because theres little space but possible
Keep the car's owner's manual handy. Remove the screws or bolts that hold the heater core in place. It may be that you need to remove more parts of the car in order to get to the heater core. Disconnect the intake and outtake hoses from the heater core. Remove the heater core from the car, taking special care to keep the core upright so no coolant spills out. Place the new heater core into the car, and reconnect the hoses as they were connected to the old heater core. Screw or bolt the new heater core into the car, and replace all the other removed car parts.
