The ignition module sits at the driver end of engine near the transmission, It is obvious as six plug leads come out of it. Remove all leads and connectors and unscrew four bolts on the corners of the module. I believe they are 7mm bolts on most '95 -'03 Taurus and Sable. Now fit you new module ans re-connect wires. All can be done in less than30 minutes, don't waste money taking it to a dealership.
Remove the ignition module retaining ring. Pull the ignition barrel out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition barrel. Reverse the process to install the new ignition module.

To replace the ignition module in your Celebrity: Unplug the wires, take note of where they go so you can put them back in the correct place. Remove the screws that hold the ignition module in place. If the old module was coated with dielectric grease on the mounting surface put fresh dielectric grease on the replacement ignition module. Put the new ignition module in place and attach with the screws. Plug the wires back in their respective places.

Find your distributor cap and follow the center cable to a rectangular part. This is the ignition module. Remove it, get a new one and install it.
On the bottom side of the engine( front of the car) just below the exhause manifold. It is easiest to remove the mounting plate from the body of the engine, as balancing the coils on the module as you remove and insert screws if a real pain in the but. If anyone has any suggestions on waterproofing this area, I would greatly appreciate it, as I have gone through three of these modules in three years due to water getting into it and shorting the module out. This last time it was a coolant leak around a seal on the top of the water pump, spraying right into the module that caused it. Argh!
