To check the transmission fluid level on a 2002 Chevy Silverado with a 4.8-liter engine, first ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is running at operating temperature. Locate the transmission dipstick, which is typically near the back of the engine, and pull it out. Wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, then remove it again to check the fluid level; it should be within the marked range on the dipstick. If the fluid is low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
To check the fluid level on a 1999 Chevy Silverado transfer case, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is off. Locate the transfer case fill plug, typically found on the side of the transfer case. Remove the plug using a wrench; the fluid should be at the bottom of the fill hole. If fluid drips out, it's at the correct level; if not, add the appropriate transfer case fluid until it reaches the fill hole.
Pull up the dipstick, wipe it off, reinsert it, pull it back out, read the level.
