there are 8, 15mm
there are 8 on a 6 foot s10 bed plus the filler neck
The bed of a 1998 Chevy S10 is typically secured by six bolts. These bolts are located in the corners of the bed, with two on each side towards the rear and two in the front, near the cab. In addition, there may be additional fasteners, such as clips or brackets, depending on the specific configuration of the truck. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for precise information and torque specifications.
i believe they're 15 mm the main bed bolts are 15 mm but there are two 13 mm's, one on each of the frame rails, that also need to be removed. these are for the grounds of the wiring system and are very important to remember to hook back up up your truck WILL NOT start :)
im puttin in a 96 jimmy engine in my 2000 blazer and there are 9 bolts..(had to go buy them at hardware store)...

take the bolts out that hold the metal straps that hold the tank up and disconnect the hoses and wire harness
The 4.3L has 7 total , including bolts holding oil pan to trans. Also, there are 2 alignment guide pins that can be a pain sometimes, but other times they slide right apart

You need a 40 Torx screwdriver. Remove the two bolts holding each pivot point on the bed side of your S10, and the single bolt holding the out hinge on the gate itself. Put the new hinges on, tighten the Torx bolts. The Torx bolts seem to strip easily. You might consider changing them to Allen heads as part of the procedure.
I have 4.3L v6 in my 95 S10, it holds 20 gals.
total of 4 bolts that hold the box down, 1 bolt is located in each corner, and remove the tail lights so u can pull the wiring, very easy, light box too just need 2 ppl to lift it
