I purchased an olds 98 touring (3.8 GM supercharged engine) with 36k on it and ran it to 235k without any engine problems. I used preventitve maintenance and replaced the blower belt it it showed wear or checking of the belt. Oil changes were every 3k to 5k miles with filter change. The car was ok, what cost was replacing the struts, and I never did get the ton of functions handled by all the dash buttons running the computer readouts fixed, but the car ran well, and took down two deer on two different occassions without needing to actually do bodywork as I did not have full coverage. One deer in the passenger door, and one straight on, the headlights were not broken.
