Depends on the cam.
carb, cam, intake, headers, heads, msd igntion, or a 350
yes it will work and give more horse power biggercamsmallerengine
Call the cam manufacturer. They can do computer simulations that approximate the before and after horsepower.
A Chevy 305 with a roller cam will have MORE power than a 305 with a flat tappet cam if both are installed in the same engine. The horsepower of any 305 depends on what all is done to the engine. Changing from flat tappet to roller will gain some. There are other ways to increase horsepower and there are other ways to increase torque.
A .030 bore alone wouldn't add enough horse power to even feel. Now, add flat top pistons, a good cam, headers, maybe a decent set of heads and carb you'd see improvement. But if you added that to a stock bore 305 you'd see the same results.
around 220hp i would say
best guess would be 25 horsepower.more with timing advance.maybe 35.
305 is a small cubic engine the cam sounds about right for it but keep in mind the small bore so you really dont need the 1.94 valves get you some 601 ho heads they have a lil bigger valve than most 305 heads but not quite 1.94. run a flat top piston and a thin gasket cuz compression is horsepower. make sure you dont over carb it and you should be good to go.
The 92 did not have a roller cam in it.
The 1985 stock 305 TPI was rated at 215 horsepower. The 1986 had a milder cam and slighty less horses, I belive 205. Correct....the HP is rated at 215, but it produces a lot of torque. A quick way to add about 15 hp is to install an air foil for about $70.00. The air foil installs where the hose connects to the air intake on the engine. It's a quick and easy install. I added a Flowmaster catback exhaust and K&N air filters and a hyperchip. Not impressed with the chip. The Flowmasters and K&N filters did much more than the chip. Engine runs much cooler.
sorry buddy your gettin hosed!!! he is right YOU CAN WALK IN TO A OREILLYS AND GET A CAM AND LIFTER SET, ITS ABOUT 175-250.00 , HEADS ON A 305 ARE NOT WORTH A DANG NIKLE, THEY ALLL FREKIN CRACK. BY THE TIME YOU GET A JUNKIE 305 IN ORDER YOU COULD HAVE SAVED , BY DROPPING IN A REAL ENGINE, A 350. SOUNDS LIKE HE WANTED SOME WORK, AND WAS RIGHT THAT STOCK 305 HEADS CAN BE THROWN AWAY, BUT IF YOU WANT POWER YOU HAVE TO ADD HEADS AND A GOOD CAM, AND A GOOD CARB, MAYBE A CARTER /EDELBROCK 600 CFM.
You do not want to change from a roller camshaft to a hydraulic flat tappet cam! that would be adding friction to you engine(bad plan). you can go from a flat tappet to a roller cam but no one offers a kit to erase technology, or subtract horsepower.
