2 ways I can envision a temperature control might need fixing:
Since the heating/cooling controls are part of the integrated dash panel, that is going to have to come off. Not hard and best done with the $4 Ford radio removal tools (Walmart, Target, any auto parts store)
Likely to be just like the blower switch and held on by only 1 screw and having 1 wire connector.
