I was working on the same problem for about 2 hours and discovered a metal clip in between the crank and the washer behind it. Just use a small flathead screwdriver, wedge it between the washer and crank and try to remove the metal clip. It should pop right off
Pop back the plastic cover from the center of the crank and remove Allen or Philips screw. Handle will then pull off.
Pull out the U-clip located on the base of the window crank.
push in on the door pannel by the crank and remove the snap ring behind the pivit point
Their is a special tool to remove manual crank window cranks and it will work for almost any car. You can pick one up at auto zone
Dodge Dakota V6's didn't have a crank sensor until 1992.
Remove the inside door panel of your 1997 Chevy Lumina. Remove the linkage to the window crank. Remove the window crank retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new window crank.

To remove the window crank and gear from a 1979 Dodge W150 door, first, locate the retaining clip or screw securing the window crank. Use a flathead screwdriver or a suitable tool to gently pry off the clip or unscrew the fastener. Once the crank is removed, access the door panel and unscrew any fasteners holding the window regulator gear in place. Carefully detach the gear from its mounting points to complete the removal.
remove the clip retaining crank to the regulator shaft, this requires a special tool available at most parts houses.
