On my 1971 Mustang I just pulled the headlight switch on the dash all the way out
Check the connection to the headlight switch you can ge the switch at autozone also I changed the MFS switch (turn signal) at the same time
Its or foglights and it only works when headlights are on.next to it would be the top button if you had a convertable

the newer bulbs that replace the older ones draw more power and overheat the headlight switch. buy a new headlight switch and try that, it worked on my 67.
