That is a neutral safety switch is bad i replaced that last month on mine had the same problem
The neutral start switch on a 1994 Ford Tempo with a 6-cylinder engine is located on the transmission. Specifically, it is mounted on the side of the transmission case, near the transmission linkage. This switch prevents the engine from starting unless the transmission is in the neutral or park position. To access it, you may need to lift the vehicle for better visibility and reach.
Loose or corroded battery cables Weak battery Bad starter Bad neutral switch
please answer my question. Ford truck 1999 V8 4.6 L does not start of park but in neutral sometimes Why.
Ford Tempo was created in 1984.
it is most likely the neutral safety switch. this is the mechanism that only allows the engine to start in neutral. i got a truck that does the same thing.
Take off the old one and put a new one back in that spot.
Have the alternator checked out.
