The evaporator canister is only used for the AC system. If there has been a failure in the compressor, you need to change the orifaces found inside the condensor line. and probably the evaporator too. You need to have the system flushed to get small particles out of the system that will cause damage to other components and/or shorten the life span of the components that you just replaced.

What are the differences between canister vacuums and bag vacuums?

Bag vacuum cleaners require a bag and this is what catches the dirt that you vacuum up, when the bag gets full, you simply throw it away and replace it. Canister vacuums suck up the dirt into the canister attached to the vacuum. You then detach the canister and dump the dirt out of the canister.

Where is Evap Canister located on 1998 Lumina?

My canister was in the Left Rear fender well. Right behind the taillight. You must jack the car up, remove the LR wheel, then using your 4 foot long left arm, feel behind the tail light. Most often the hoses are dry and loose fitting. Replace them if you can. You should also replace the valve on top of the canister because once you replace the canister, you will probably never visit this area of your car again. There is a bolt that holds the canister to the inside of the fender well. You should unplug the electrical connector on the valve on top of the canister, then disconnect the hoses that connect to the top of the canister. Once you have removed all these, you can remove the bolt holding the canister, and bring the canister out into the sunlight. Replace all the hoses if you can, then install your new $85.00 canister back in place and connect the hoses and electrical plug. Because of its location, this can be a very frustrating job. You need the hands of a child, on 4 foot arms, and double joints. Paul

How can I safely dispose of a butane canister?

To safely dispose of a butane canister, first make sure it is completely empty by using up the remaining gas. Then, puncture the canister to release any remaining pressure. Next, take the canister to a hazardous waste disposal facility or a recycling center that accepts pressurized containers. Do not puncture or crush the canister yourself, as this can be dangerous.

What happens when an aerosol freezes?

When an aerosol freezes, the propellant (usually a liquefied gas) inside the canister expands, which can cause the canister to rupture or explode. This can be dangerous and should be avoided by storing aerosols in a cool, but not freezing, environment.
