I own a 2000 Ford Explorer. It does not have daytime running lights.
However, if you bought the Explorer in Canada, by law all new vehicles made or imported after January 1, 1990 are required to have DRLs. Some were equipped with them in 1975.
Too bad the mentality in the US is to equip cars with countless useless accessories, and ignore this simple and effective safety measure.
If the Explorer is running engaging the parking brake is supposed to turn the daytime running lights off , otherwise the daytime running lights are supposed to shut off when the engine is shut off . I have a 2004, Eddie Bauer Explorer. On the light switch itself, there is a selection to turn on or off the day lights, as well as the extended, courtesy lights after ignition is turned off.
Daytime running light. Usually mean the daytime running lights have a problem
The daylight running lights of a Ford Explorer can be turned off by using the manual headlight control switch. Place the switch in the middle position to turn the daytime running lights off. The headlights will then need to be turned on manually at dusk.
engage the parking brake , or shut the engine off
Adjust switch on rear view mirror.
how so you turn on the daytime running lights on a 99 suburban
There are a few reasons why your daytime running lights are flashing. Your wiring could be messed up or your lights might be burning out.
The 1992 Ford Ranger did not come equipped with daytime running lights.
I believe that is a defective daytime running lamp (DRL) module
They are supposed to turn on when the engine is started and the emergency brake is released , at least that is the way it is on my 1995 Ford Explorer
Daytime running lights are required on vehicles in Canada, Sweden, and Norway. In the United States, daytime running lights are not required at the federal level, but some individual states may have their own regulations.
They should come on automatically when the vehicle is in operation. If they're not, you might have an electrical problem. If your vehicle is a U.S. vehicle and you want daytime running lights, you must purchase a daytime running lights (drl) module for about $50. and place it in the fuse area off the driver's side dash. Remove the hi beam module and then find someone with a Jeep/Chrysler computer that can flash your computer board and change the country code to Canada and voila, you will have daytime running lights.
