i am taking the 700r4 out of my 86 Chevy 4x4 and putting in a turbo 350. in my research i have found that both transmissions have the same spline count, but the 700 is a longer transmission. here is a website that might help you out.

Every good mechanic in this world will tell you that Chevy is the best brand of vehicles you can but. one good reason is to do with the way gm, and Chevy did their engine/transmission compatibility nearly all automatic transmission will bolt up to any engine. an engine with a 700-R4 is compatible with a turbo 350. of any year.
Chevy is the best brand again.
