My wife has a 2004 Tahoe and I bet I know why you're asking this question. Knocking when you turn the wheel, acts like it wants to stall when turning at a slow speed, resistance when turning? There is a problem with the steering assembly and Chevy will not allow the problem to go to a recall status. They have determined the issue falls within factory specs and is considered a regular service issue. You can grease the steering U joint yourself or have a mechanic do it for about $175.
