no sometimes there on the flywheel if so there will be a small hole in bellhouseing to shine you timing lite at
There is a groove cut in the harmonic balancer. This is the part that the loer pully bolts to.
first you need a timming light second check under the hood for the spcs, o check for spcs on a chilton book after you get the spcs find the mark on the crank pulley clean the marks the timming tag also. is locate next to the pulley when checking the timming acording to spcs if the timming is off loose the distribuidor bolt turn the dist. slowly by hand until you reach the timming spcs the book recomendto ffinish tight the bolt .
Turn the crankshaft until it is at the #1 TDC mark. Turn the camshaft until the dot or line is aligned with the mark on the crank pully. Each manufacturer has a slightly different way of indicating #1 TDC, but there is always some kind of mark.
fist u have too move timing belt cover than mark the timing and remove the timing belt after that u can take out a crank pully out (makesouer timing mark is right)
no i cannot answer this question
on the crank, there is a key and keyway it should be strait up. this will get you close. and the cam pully has mark's on either side and a marking that says up where your valve cover connects to the head, put the up up and the marks each lined up with where the valve cover connects one on each side. then fine tune the timing by puting the mark on the crank pully on the mark on the timimg belt cover. you are now timed!
Look on the timing belt cover you will see a notch on the top, this is where you line the camshaft pully mark. Now, on the crank pully you will find another notch on the pully it's self. Now at the 1 o'clock posistion on the timing cover above the crank pully you will find a little plastic "tit" about 1/2" long, line the crank pully with this and install the belt. Note: on my car this bottom notice was actually right on one of arms mounting the starter. its still in the 1 oclock posistion but wasnt on the plastic cover. Great thanks for these nots helped me alot
on the cam there is a little dot that is machined in the cam gear. make sure that it is at top dead center( remember that the motor sits at a slight angle so it wont look like the very top by looking strait at it. you will have to take the crank pully off to see the mark on the crank gear. the mark is an indentation on the back of the pully. line that up with the little arrow next to the gear. after that is set put the belt on making sure that you don't move the gears. put your pully back on and use a timing light to set the timing at two degrees top side by looking at the marks on the timing belt cover next to the crank pully.
if the engine is an izuzu then the crankshaft pully must be aligned to tdc mark the injection pump and camshaft must be locked by screwing a bolt through a hole in the pully and into the backplate a 10/11mm and a 13mm bolt will be required. the crank pully may have to be fitted to find the tdc mark. I have watched this being done. I would answer the question "With Difficulty, even if you know what you are doing!"
Most American made cars have the timing mark on the crank pulley. I say most, because I'm not familiar with some import models and how they time their vehicles or if they use any marks at all.
The mark 2 golf crank sensor is usually on the flywheel.
take the timing cover off the belt there should be a gear below the camshaft pully its a tensioner use a peice of chalk and mark the very top of the cam pully and the very bottom of the crank pully do your best not to turn them loosen the tensioner pully the belt will loosen up take it off put the new one on if you turned the pully put it back slowly tighten the belt when its tight if the pully turned when tightening pull the slack out by hand then tighten it both chalk marks should be lined up if they are start the car always unplug the battery first and don't rotate the pullys more than a few inches if nessacery when the belt is off you could cause damage to the valves
