The low coolant sensor in a Pontiac Grand Prix is designed to monitor the coolant level in the reservoir and alert the driver if it falls below a safe threshold. If the sensor is faulty or the coolant level is indeed low, it may trigger a warning light on the dashboard. Regularly checking and maintaining the coolant level can help prevent engine overheating and damage. If you experience a persistent warning despite proper coolant levels, the sensor may need inspection or replacement.
Low coolant or a defective sensor
low antifreeze , or faulty coolant sensor .
there is no reset you have replace the low coolant sensor and flush cooling system and use dexcool coolant.
To change the low coolant sensor on a 2002 Grand Prix 3.8L, first ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Locate the coolant reservoir, then remove the connector from the sensor and unscrew the old sensor using a socket wrench. Install the new sensor by screwing it in place, reconnect the sensor connector, and refill the coolant if necessary before reconnecting the battery. Finally, check for any leaks and ensure the sensor is functioning properly.
On a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, the low coolant sensor is typically located in the coolant reservoir tank. It is usually mounted on the side of the tank and is designed to monitor the coolant level. To access it, you may need to remove the reservoir from its mounting position. Always ensure the engine is cool and the system is depressurized before attempting any maintenance.
In a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, the low coolant sensor is typically located in the coolant reservoir tank. It may be integrated into the tank itself or positioned near the bottom of the tank. To access it, you may need to remove the reservoir from its mounting or check the wiring connections if you're troubleshooting an issue. Always consult the vehicle's service manual for specific details and instructions.
It should be on the tank of the rad just below the fill neck- remove the wiring harness and there is a clip that holds the sensor to the tank- pull it off with a sideways motion and then pull the low coolant sensor straight out.
It's due to the sensor going bad. Should be in the radiator
On the 2002 grand prix there is a sensor in the radiator about 6 inches from the top on the vehicles right side. It works based on electrical conductivity of the coolant. when it becomes dirty (doesn't conduct) or fails it will show low level. Remove the battery (for access) remove a spring clip (holds the sensor in) pull out the sensor and clean or replace. for the purpose of testing, with the sensor out of the radiator, but still plugged in and the key in run (engine off) ground the sensor to the battery. if the dash light goes out, the sensor is good. clean and reinstall.
The low coolant sensor is etiher plugded, broken, or your coolant is actually low. Check the radiator and resivor tank to see if they are full. If they are and the light is on, drain the coolant. Be careful not to break the plastic petcock. The sensor is located next to the battery on the right side of the car. Remove the battery and pull the sensor out. Clean it or replace it. then put everything back together.
On the side of the radiator, by the filler neck? This is the only low coolant sensor I know of. *Ditto here; There is only one for temp and another for coolant level. Each sets off a different warning light on the dash.
