CHANGE THE OIL! EVERY 3k miles. 3k miles is sooner than most auto mfgs. recommend.. the sooner the better. I have NEVER had a sludge issue with any car I have had the last 16 years. I have had everything from Datsun Z's, Corvettes, Infiniti's, BMW's. My wife as a Passat 1.8T and we change the oil every 3k, and have had no issues. RJ
