Jack up your vehicle and remove the big nut that holds the steering arm to the steering box. It is attached very tightly and you may need specialized tools like a pitman arm puller to do this. Remove the arm from the steering shaft and then disconnect it from the centerlink.
The pitman arm and idler arm are components of a vehicle's steering system. The pitman arm connects the steering gear to the center link, transferring motion from the steering wheel to the wheels. The idler arm supports the center link on the opposite side, helping to maintain proper alignment and stability of the steering system. Together, they facilitate smooth and responsive steering.

You will have alot of play in the steering wheel.
an idler arm holds the right side of the steering linkage.its job is to mirror the movement of the pittman arm.the pittman arm holds the left side of the linkage(pittman arm is attached to the steering gear. i.e. when you turn the steering wheel, the steering gear turns the pittman arm, which moves the steering linkage, which turns the tires.) idler and pittman need to move together so tires move together. The main job of the idler arm is to support the steering linkage system in a vehicle, ensuring proper alignment and function of the steering mechanism. It connects the center link to the frame of the vehicle, allowing for smooth movement during steering. Additionally, the idler arm helps maintain the stability of the steering system by absorbing road vibrations and loads. Proper functioning of the idler arm is crucial for safe and responsive steering.
