Transmission temp sensors do fail. they are easy to replace. it is located on the front of the transmission, just below the trans filter ( for automatic) the connector is a pinch style 2 wire assembly. the temp sensor is threaded into the case. it means that transmission is about to quit working that's what I was told by a transmission shop that if the engine temperature doesn't get up to normal then a torq converter sensor will cause the converter to kick in and out, making it seem like the tranny is slipping. But, can anyone elaborate on this? thanks. lghall
Yes, Have them check the camshaft sensor....
having a problem with my rebuilt trans, i put it in everything right but its leaking from the or around sensor on the panssager side
it should be on front of transmission.
Yes, the Lucida's Top Gear function can sometimes be affected by a water temperature sensor. This sensor is usually located in the engine's cooling system, often near the thermostat or water pump. If it malfunctions or is not reading correctly, it can prevent the transmission from shifting into Top Gear. Checking the sensor and its connections can help diagnose the issue.
I know you can get to 2 of them by taking off the front drivers wheel quite ez I think one is the shift select sensor
YES I REPLACE CAM 2 TIMES FIRST AT 78000MI NEXT AT 165000 .
your transmission is having problems by the sound of it. go to a transmission shop.
I am not positive on the 2001, but most reverse lamp switches are in the transmission range sensor or (manual lever positioning sensor) where the shifter cable is attached to the transmission.
On my 1998 zx2 it is located on the intake tube after the mass airflow sensor. It points to the front of the car and has two wires coming out of it.
Does that mean that you replaced the thermostat AND the sensor? If not, you really need to replace the thermostat. A sticking thermostat can cause temperature swings and potentially overheat the engine. BTW, BMW engines tend to have serious problems when they overheat. Don't let it overheat or you might be buying a new engine.
That depends on which speed sensor you are referring to. There are 4 ABS speed sensors, an idle speed sensor, an engine speed sensor, and a transmission speed sensor that I know of. As far as which one runs your speedometer, I believe that is the vehicle speed sensor mounted on the housing of your transmission. I have the same vehicle and the same problem. I have the same question as you as well. I have been doing some research and I have told you what I found. My tachometer and speedometer are not working. If anyone else knows anything different, I am sure both of us would appreciate it.
