Yes, the Lucida's Top Gear function can sometimes be affected by a water temperature sensor. This sensor is usually located in the engine's cooling system, often near the thermostat or water pump. If it malfunctions or is not reading correctly, it can prevent the transmission from shifting into Top Gear. Checking the sensor and its connections can help diagnose the issue.
Depending on the year of the Monte Carlo the 02 sensor could be installed in several places on the exhaust. The 02 sensor screws in. You may need a special socket to remove it, just unscrew the sensor and screw the new one in.
Bank 2 is the bank (you have a V6 engine with two banks of three cylinders) with cylinder #6. This is the left hand side of the engine. If you stand there facing the belts and but your two hands out, your right hand will be near bank two and your left hand will be near bank 1. Follow the exhaust system from the engine back toward the tailpipe. The second oxygen sensor you encounter is bank 2 sensor 2. Unplug the sensor. Use an oxygen sensor wrench or oxygen sensor socket to unscrew the sensor. If the sensor won't unscrew easily, start the engine and rev it up to abour 2500 RPM for about 3 minutes, then try unscrewing the sensor with the engine still running. Don't burn yourself. If your tool won't fit well, use a 6-point 7/8 inch box wrench. You can cut the sensor lead if necessary as you've already determined that the old sensor is no longer useful. Screw the new sensor in, then plug it in. Reset PCM codes.

The 2003 Mondeo does not have a IAT Sensor is has a Temperature and Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (TMAP) The TMAP sensor fits directly into the inlet manifold and accurately measures the vacuum from the engine. The TMAP sensor consists of a temperature sensor and a pressure transducer and therefore replaces the IAT and the MAP sensors. The TMAP sensor provides the powertrain control module with information relating to inlet manifold vacuum and barometric pressure along with the temperature of the air in the inlet manifold. With the ignition on but without the engine running the sensor reads barometric pressure and when the engine is running, the sensor reads inlet manifold vacuum.
I don't know but I would like to know as well.
change your O2 sensor
the coolant sensor is in the radiator on the passanger side the oxygen sensor is in the exhaust system on the manifold and the pipes and sometimes both
possibly the throttle position sensor the sensor will also change the shifting pattern
If you have the code you can change the sensor yourself. The sensor is located on the exhaust manifold. It sometimes is related to something else. For complete info and troubleshooting visit our enthusiasts forum at www.trailvoy.com
It depends what kind of sensor and how it is wired.Usually the "sensor ground" refers to the ground source at the sensor's plug. Usually that leads back to the ECM. Sometimes it's the threads where the sensor screws into the vehicle. If a wire brakes or corrosion builds up between parts the resistance can change, thus why measurements are taken from sensor ground.

2000 Sebring 2.5 was dying at odd times (like while driving on the freeway). Sometimes the tachometer would go to 0, then the engine would kick on again, sometimes it would die and then would be hard to start. Turned out to be the crankshaft sensor. Neighbor had the same car and tried to change the camshaft sensor (which is integrated with the distributor cap), and he ended up having to change the crankshaft sensor too. I recommend changing the crankshaft sensor first.
It screwed in to the exhaust manifold. To change it you unplug the sensor and unscrew it with an O2 sensor socket.
