Chrysler and General Motors are separate car companies that each make cars.
Alot of the rental car companies, carry a ton of GM cars, but lately GM can not meet the demand so the companies had to look at other car makers. Plus GM wanted to raise the prices.

GM owns alot of car companies but the bigger ones are cadillac,chevrolet,saturn,gmc,pontiac,hummer and some other smaller ones
Making a car takes stages of thought,plans,money,and pieces of sorts That get complicated.that's why most people who make cars are part of companies like GM or Toyota .
No Ford is similar to GMC in that it owns other car companies just like GMC does.
It really depends on the individual car.
'make' is the manufacturer, like Ford, GM, Chrysler, Dodge, etc...
Based on his support of the GM Janesville Wisconsin Plant, One would think a GM car. And you would think he would make a big deal of it, but he doesn't.
