The problem might be your fuel filter. I know first hand that when mine collapsed it did the same thing. Also might check the throttle control fuse and cable.

What can cause a 1999 dodge 1500 truck to crank up and cut off?

A 1999 Dodge 1500 truck that cranks but then cuts off might be experiencing issues with the fuel system, such as a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump, which can prevent sufficient fuel from reaching the engine. Another possibility is a malfunctioning sensor, like the crankshaft position sensor, which can disrupt the engine's timing and cause it to stall. Additionally, electrical issues, such as a weak battery or faulty ignition components, could also contribute to this problem. Regular diagnostics and inspection are recommended to pinpoint the exact cause.
