check egr valve
Stop playing it for a while
to switch to 4 wheel drive ona sport trac can be done while driving from 2wd to 4wd high at speeds not exceeding 80mph. to put in 4low you need to be stopped and the best bet is put your truck in neutral till it engages
rubber bushings in motor mount worn
it shouldnt, check or change all of the spark plugs, change the oil, and reset the idle
While stopped, and in park or neutral, move the 4wd selector to the desired 4wd mode, put car in drive or 1st gear and drive.
The problem you seem to be having is the cooling temp sensor. It controls the fan speed which has two speeds. Try that.
Check and see if the fan cluch is good. Your fan. At higher speeds, the fan is not needed due to the high airflow. At low speeds and idle, you need the fan to operate to cool the car.
Check the fluid level, if that's not it, have the fluid and filter changed.
My 2007 overheated and the engine shut down automatically - while I was driving
The reason is that when you shift to neutral, the engine is released from the drive, and so there is no longer a load on the motor and it momentarily speeds up. I don't know who taught you to drive, they didn't do a good job. You should NEVER PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION!!!!!!!!
the best thing is to put it in neutral and get stopped as quickly as possible and shut it off. if you shut it off right away you will lose your power steering and some braking action.
While you are still rolling down shift to neutral.
