In a 2006 Jeep Commander, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) manages the automatic transmission's operation, ensuring smooth shifting and optimal performance based on engine conditions and driver input. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) oversees the engine and transmission functions, regulating fuel injection, ignition timing, and other critical parameters to maximize efficiency and emissions control. Together, these modules work to enhance the vehicle's overall performance and driving experience.
Yes
In a 2006 Jeep Commander, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) is typically located on the transmission itself or nearby, often mounted on the side of the transmission case. To access it, you may need to remove some undercarriage components or shields. It's advisable to consult the vehicle's service manual for specific instructions or diagrams for your exact model.
Low fluid Burnt fluid Mis adjusted cable Trans related code in PCM/TCM
Error code 66 on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee means TCM to PCM failure. This code means that the transmission control model is not communicating with the powertrain control model.
11: No crank signal to computer. Fault in wiring between crankshaft position sensor (CPS) and ECM ( PCM or computer ) or faulty CPS.12: Battery disconnected. Battery or power to the ECM disconnected in the last 50 key cycles.66: TCM to PCM failure. No message from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
The TCM is part of the "PCM" or "ECM" as some call it, it is located under the hood on the right side (Pass. Side) of the firewall behind the air cleaner box. It has 4 plug in connectors plugged into it all color coded ( Black, orange, green, and white) the color can be seen AFTER you unplug then from the PCM. ALSO it is always a "safe" idea to disconnect the battery for at least 5 min's before unplugging or plugging in the connecters to the PCM/TCM
A 96 GC has the TCM as an integral part of the PCM for both 6 and V8 models. On some earlier 6 cylinder Grand Cherokees, the TCM is separate and is bolted to the firewall; nuts to remove are next to the brake booster, under the hood, tho the TCM on these is inside the vehicle.
your as
depending on the vehicle model it can relate to the pcm or tcm
