other possible swaps include the 3.3 and 3.8 v6 from the minivans. has been done with both right and left hand drive neons. great for adding low end power at the cost of adding 25-50 extra pounds.
nono
Well yes you can swap any engine into any vehicle that you choose. Swapping in the neon motor would require the PCM, wire harness, motor, trans, and possibly the key switch ( if your neon had the SKIM anti theft system, unless you go stand alone fuel management and eliminate the stock PCM ). The funny part about this is that Im considering the opposite dropping a chevy 3.1 and 5spd from a 89 cavalier z-24 into my 2001 Plymouth neon. I just think the chevy motor is way more reliable then the the 2.0L.
yep. Its all the same car, everything will swap
Yes. If you look around on some Dodge Neon forums many people have made the swap.
biggest problem you might have is the head type. If the 99 head is a SOHC, and the 95 is DOHC, you will need a DOHC hood. I would try and find a newer motor if you can. There were alot of small changes that were made between 95 and 97 that would make this swap rather frustrating.Type your answer here...
It is possible to swap the engines, and the V6 gives a noticeable improvement over power and acceleration. Just make sure the transmission can handle the V6 or swap the transmission as necessary.
yeah its possible...but u have to get intake and exhaust swapped as well
If the Neon's are both the same year and have the same engine type then the PCM should swap out ok. If the engines are different then the PCM may not work properly.
Not legally. In order to perform a legal engine swap, the new engine has to be an option on the model and year your putting it into. Seeing as how the 4.7 is the 5.2's replacement, It is not a legal engine swap.
Yes it is possible to swap a diesel for a petrol engine, if you have the money, skill, and time. It will require lots of money. I would not advise it.
i believe the mounting is the same however the DOHC will have a better power output than the SOHC
Yes it will quite easily, you have to swap intakes.
