Did you look at the alternator bearings?Take the belt off and spin the alteranator to see if the bearings are bad.
Loosen the tensioner bolt on your 1997 Kia alternator. Move the alternator to the left. The alternator belt will become loose and can be replaced.
Did you change out the belt? I had a chirping and squeaking on mine and my 95 Impala and I couldn't isolate it so I went with the cheapest repair, a new belt and low and behold it solved the problem. As soon as I hear a noise now, it's belt first then more expensive parts last! Good Luck
its probably your tensioner pully that's squeeling, not expensive, if purchased at an auto parts store.
use a breaker bar to release pressure on automatic belt tensioner
Loosen the tensioner pulley to remove the belt. Remove the wiring harness. Remove the retaining bolts. The alternator will come off and can be replaced with a new one.
Your smoke alarm may be chirping because the battery is low and needs to be replaced.
Your smoke detector may be chirping because the battery is low and needs to be replaced.
Camshaft Position Sensor / syncronizer
I recently replaced the alternator on my 96' Lumina. 1. Remove the serpentine belt off the engine by locating the belt tensioner and removing the tension req'd to remove the belt. (there is usually a diagram in the engine compt. showing the tensioner location and belt path) 2. Remove required bolts (2) I believe... & elec. harness plug from alternator. 3. Replace alternator & reverse process.
most likely your airconditioner compressor has gone bad and needs to be replaced. you sould also check the tensioner pulley as the resister tab may have broken when the ac pulley seized up.
Just replaced it myself you gota take the alternator off loosen two bolts that hold the tensioner on and pull it out.Don't loosen any bolts on the powersteering under the tensioner.Remember to disconnect the battery first.
