i had a 97 and i found that the rattle was the exhaust/ Cadillac converter shield.. does it do it when u first take off? if so i would suggest u look under neath spot the shield and see if it moves or another thing i would do is look and see if your exhaust hangers are solid if they move alot then your whole exhaust could rattle...
AnswerMore than likely the catalytic converter heat shield. Do not remove the heat shield. If it is rattling, a temporary fix is to purchase two large adjustable metal clamps and simply place them around each end of the converter and heat shield. This will stop the rattle, and protect the underside of the vehicle.ANSWER:
It is most likely the Catalytic Converter. Chrysler Jeep products are known for a problem with the Cat and having the ceramic plates inside coming loose, rattling, and potentially plugging the exhaust outlet. I removed the Cat, knocked all the ceramic out of mine, and re-installed it. Gas mileage improved slightly and it got a little louder. You cannot do this if you have an O2 sensor in front of AND behing the Cat. I recommend having it fixed soon so it doesn't leave you stranded somewhere. Mine got so loud with the rattle that I couldn't hear at a drive-thru restaurant.
Good Luck.
There is a recall on several jeeps for the catalitic converter, do not damage it or they may not cover it. check with you dealer to see if there is a recall. also the cat is covered under federal emission warrenty fo 8yrs or 80,000 miles what ever comes 1st
Sounds like your problem is probably a loose heat-sheild or a loose exhaust. Have it checked.
Could be a bad shock absorber or shock absorber bushing. Could be bad bushings on the rear sway bar (if equipped).
underneath the front bumper in the middle.
how do i remove the front bumper and small splash guard underneath it or does the shield have to be removed at all?
No, the Grand is different from the Cherokee.
The Grand Cherokee did not exist until the 1993 model year.
A seat from a 1999-2004 Grand Cherokee is what fits in a 1999-2004 Grand Cherokee.
Through the cap in the middle of the valve cover.
None, there wasn't a Grand Cherokee until 1993None, there wasn't a Grand Cherokee until 1993
It most likely will, grand Cherokees didn't change much those years. As long as they are both grand Cherokees, and as long as one isn't a Cherokee and the other is a grand Cherokee.
no.
Jeep Grand Cherokee was created in 1993.
