it's a data interface for all the systems in the car that arn't controlled by the engine control module
Try looking @ all harnesses to see if they've melted. Check multi-function switch, BCM ..... all after the obvious bulbs and fuses.
It must be programed using special equipment like a Tech II, used by dealers.

You don't, the dealer or repair shop does.
i have an 02 impala and i recently found out my bcm is bad. I found out that this is located on the left hand side of the steering column.... it should be the same in the 01 since the parts can be swapped in both cars. i hope this helps
Directly below the steering column mounted horizontally with the electrical connectors facing aft.
The BCM (Body Control Module) of the Passlock system is malfunctioning. It will need to be replaced. I just had it done to my '03 Impala.
Because its a chevy!! Agreed. Bad ground from body control module (bcm) kills the relay switch. Around $400 at the dealer 4 years ago.
The door locks are actually controlled by by the Body Control Module (BCM), but there is a main fuse where they get power from. That fuse is under the hood, and I have attached a link that shows the location and function of each of the fuses. Good Luck, Greg
