The firing order on the head is 1-2-3-4 starting from the driver side. On the distributor it should go 1-3-4-2. I'm not really sure where the number one on the distributor cap is. Looking at the distributor from the passenger side, it should be the the top left or bottom left.

Distributor cap has 4 wires on the passenger side and 3 wires on the drivers side. Drivers side from front to back should be 3,1,5. Passenger side is 2,4,6, and then the coil wire is at the back closest to the firewall.

when standing behind the car looking at the engine the number one cylinder is on the front, passenger side. rear passenger is two. three is front driver side and four is rear driver. on the distributor number one should be the closest one to you almost on the rear passenger side if you will. the order continues counterclockwise from there. this is hard to determine unless your timing is fairly accurate. the firing order is 1432
You need to know the firing order of the engine. Answer 2 The same as the firing order - 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2. #1 is toward the front of the distributor and slightly to the left (passenger's side). Can't post a diagram but : your 3.0 L firing order is ( 1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 ) the distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE the distributor cap is installed with the marked # 1 position facing towards the firewall and slightly towards the passenger side your engine cylinders are numbered 1 , 2 , 3 on passenger side from front to back and 4 , 5 , 6 on drivers side of engine from front to back

The number one cylinder on the 2.8 is on the passengers side and the distributor cap location is front passenger. The firing order on the 2.8 is 1-2-3-4-5-6 The firing order on the 4.3 is 1-6-5-4-3-2
For a 1992 Chevy 4.3 V6, the spark plug wires should be connected to the distributor cap in the following order, starting from the front of the engine: 1-3-5-7 on the driver's side and 2-4-6-8 on the passenger side. The firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6, and the distributor cap terminals should be arranged accordingly, with cylinder 1 at the front of the cap. Ensure that each wire is securely attached and routed away from heat sources.
