The only part that is needed to replace your 1997 Pontiac rear brakes is a break assembly kit. The brake assembly kit will have everything you need.
I'd suggest picking up a Haynes or Chilton manual for your car. It will take you through the procedures and will let you know what you need, if you read the procedure before you begin the job.

Your wiring is probably messed up, happened to me. Locate the wires from the blower to the controls check them and replace as needed. Assuming no wiring problem check and replace the blower motor resistor.
