Answer back up sensors

It was just a few months after I bought my 99 Windstar that I had problems. It always seem to happen after it had rained and when I got to the dealer the problem went away. After numerous trips they seemed to finally resolve the problem.

I was told that they used some kind of marine sealant on the sensors. It would appear that when it rained or after I washed the van the sensors would short out. That seemed to work for about 2 years now the problem has returned. The sensors seem to work after a few days of no rain. I think the sealant has broken down.

Why your backup sensors stopped working?

Backup sensors may stop working due to several reasons, including a blown fuse, faulty wiring, or damaged sensors themselves. Accumulation of dirt, ice, or debris on the sensors can also hinder their functionality. Additionally, issues with the vehicle's computer system or software glitches can affect sensor performance. Is there a fuse for the back up sensors?

Yes, many vehicles have a fuse for the backup sensors, typically located in the fuse box. The specific fuse can vary by make and model, so it's important to consult the vehicle's owner manual for the exact location and specifications. If the backup sensors are not functioning, checking the fuse is a good troubleshooting step. If the fuse is blown, replacing it may resolve the issue.
