On a 2000 Lincoln Town Car :
Using a funnel you add automatic Transmission Fluid through the dipstick tube
The tube is located near the firewall , at the rear of the engine ( front of
transmission ) on the passenger side of the engine in the engine
compartment
If it's the same as town car models, there is no dip stick. The transmission is a sealed unit and does not need to be checked.
On a 2000 Lincoln Town Car : The automatic transmission fluid level dipstick is in the engine compartment , near the firewall , on the right side ( passenger side ) of the engine ( I believe it is " hidden " by the plastic engine cover )
According to the 1997 Lincoln Town Car Owner Guide : ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) * check to see if the type used is engraved in your automatic transmission fluid dipstick *
I was looking at various Owner Guides for a 2000 Lincoln : ( Continental , LS , Town Car , Navigator ) They all show ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid is used as the power steering fluid )
you just simply refill transmission fluid at the dip stick
The transmission dipstick on a 2000 Lincoln Town Car is located near the back of the engine bay, typically on the passenger side. It is usually marked with a colored handle, often yellow or orange. To check the transmission fluid, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface, and the engine is running, then pull the dipstick out, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and check the fluid level.
According to the 1998 Lincoln Town Car Owner Guide : Motorcraft MERCON - V automatic transmission fluid ( the type used should be engraved on the transmission fluid dipstick )
Inside the transmission, above the transmission pan.
very carefully ^_^
MERCON
The type of transmission fluid to use should be engraved into your automatic transmission fluid dipstick ( at least it is on the newer model years )
