The best thing that i found to do is take a pliers and stick the handle end in the rivets and stick a screwdriver in between the pliers and take off that way
It is an internal filter. It is located in the oil pan. It has a cap on the oil pan that almost looks like you can take it off with your hand. Chances are however you cant. You can change it yourself with the correct size oil filter wrench. I wish I could tell you what size it was but I use a strap wrench to take it off. Most places sell the filter. Fram # is Ch8765. It is recessed into the bottom of the oil pan. There is a special tool to remove it. However there is one of those plastic filter wrenches, the ones that fit like a socket wrench on the end of a filter, that will fit the intrigue. when I find mine I will post part#. The filter is not the conventional cartrige filter most cars have. If you buy a new oil filter for your car you will see what i mean. You're going to want to purchase OTC's "GM Oil Filter Wrench", Part #6901 (~$20). This is a metal oil filter wrench specifically designed to work on 1999-2002 Olds Intrigue and 2001-2002 Olds Aurora. This wrench worked perfectly for me on my 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. However, you probably won't find this is stores, so you'll have to order it online. If you want a local, cheaper solution (~$5), Kragen sells a Size #4 wrench made by FloTools, which is made of some sort of plastic/graphite material. This wrench will probably suffice, assuming that your oil filter cartridge was tightened to the appropriate torque. However, if the cartridge was seriously overtightened (which most cheap oil change places do), the FloTools wrench might not be strong enough. I ended up warping the square socket side of the wrench (the side that connects to a ratchet) when trying to unscrew my oil filter cartridge.

With a oil filter wrench, see your auto supply store for the correct size They are a real pain, I've got one and a worse place would be hard to find. With a wrench that goes on the end like a socket or a pair of oil filter pliers. The filter drains on the axle and there is no way around that. You have to do it from under the car.
It's on top of the plastic tank on the passenger side fender. There is no cap on the radiator itself.
You should be able to find under the air filter box.
