Yep. I had the same problem too, with my 1994 Jeep Cherokee. It seems very difficult to find the original style battery cables for these models. try www.wholesalemopar.com. Do a search for "POSITIVE CABLE" on their site, and it will show you the applications they have the cable in stock for.
About 30 min.
flnd the positive battery cable fallow it down to the starter
It is attached to the starter. The positive battery cable runs directly to it.
disconnect negative side first.... then disconnnect all connections to the pos cable labelling as you go... replace with new cable... reconnect to battery.
follow the positive battery cable and remove the two bolts 17mm
Just follow the positive (red) battery cable down to the starter.
Disconnect the positive battery cable. wait a few minutes then reconnect the cable. the light should go out, & the codes will be cleared.
A 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee does "NOT" have a speedometer cable. It has an electronic speedometer with a built in motherboard. It receives its signsls from sensors on the transmission and the transfer case.
Positive (Red) to positive post on battery. Negative (Black) to negative post on battery.
When you unhook the battery the computer loses its voltage reference. It then doesn't know what to set the alternator at, along with the voltage spike that happens when unhooking the battery.
ALTINATOR OR STARTER. JUMP START CAR, TAKE POSITIVE CABLE OFF BATTERY,IF CAR DIES IT IS ALTERNATOR. GOOD LUCK
Have you replaced the battery in the fob?
