To replace the distributor on a 1995 Chevy 4.3-liter Vortec CPI engine, first disconnect the battery and remove any components obstructing access to the distributor. Mark the position of the old distributor and the rotor's orientation for proper alignment during installation. Remove the retaining bolts, lift out the old distributor, and install the new one, ensuring it aligns with the marks made earlier. Finally, reconnect any components, the battery, and test the engine for proper operation.

Then, remove the ignition wires from the distributor cap, followed by the cap itself. Next, unbolt the distributor from the engine block and gently twist it while pulling upwards to detach it from the engine. Be sure to mark the position of the distributor for reinstallation.
