The sensor is down on the front of the oil pan just behind the crankshaft pully, which is located at the front of the engine.
Pretty sure it's at the front end of the crank.

On a 1998 it is about 3/4 of the way down the drivers side of the motor (4 cyl.) Middle of the block.
Bottom of the timing case on battery side..... look for the lowest wire connector in this area ...... best to get at from underneath.
