On a 2000 Mercury Cougar, the driver side door jamb switch is typically located on the door frame itself, near the latch area. It is a small switch that activates when the door is closed, signaling to the vehicle's electrical system whether the door is open or closed. You may need to remove the interior door panel to access it directly for inspection or replacement.
