On my 1995 Ford Explorer ( which has the 4.0 liter OHV / pushrod design /
VIN " X " engine ) the EGR valve is just to the left of the engine oil dipstick
( when looking into the engine compartment from the drivers side )
It is lower down and has a round top on it

The EGR is located on the passenger side of the engine up towards the front, underneathe the airbox. Remove the airbox. Locate the EGR, you can do this buy purchasing a new EGR for 40-80 dollars. Looking at it, then finding the same part on your enginge. After taking the airbox off and out of the way. Remove the EGR, it comes out with two bolts. Dont forget to replace the gasket. Replace, reconnect the electrical, and have your codes cleared ( check engine light will go away when you do this). :)

How replace the EGR valve on a 2004 Mazda MPV? I have been trying to replace the EGR valve of a 2004 Mazda MPV and I have not been able to loosen the nut. The nut is located in the rear side of the valve whish but is extremely stuck and I have been using different tools without any success, it won't even loosen just a bit, even using W-40. BUY A CHEBBY??? LOL either your clutch is slipping or the transmission is slipping. IF it is an auto, check the fluid. could be a clogged catalytic converter clogged fuel filter/pump? I had the same problem with my 94 Thunderbird LX 4.6L(V8). You are going to need to replace your EGR valve. The EGR valve is blocked therefore the car cannot breath. The EGR valve price is pretty fair, if you go to an auto parts store. The valve ran me about $40. Now if you are going to put it on yourself you need 24 or 26 in. wenrch to get around the pipe it is counnected to.

the egr valve is located on the intake manifold- next to the throttle cable. it looks like a ufo, has one wire coming out of the center. go to autozone ask to see the replacement and you will have no problem finding it. It cost $40 at auto zone . make sure you get the gasket w it.
