The 1997 Oldsmobile starter relay switch can be found in the fuse box. The starter relay switch will be at the top of the third column.
A 97 lx doesn't have a starter relay. The relay is built into the solenoid of the starter motor itself. It uses light voltage to transfer the power from the main cable to the starter motor itself.
8 quarts
No switch it has a relay auto turn on
either the kick panel or on the starter itself. sometimes ther are 2 of them
I had the same problem with my 97' model. It was a leaking fuel line filter just under the side of the van.
That wire is from the starter relay and is responsible for engaging the starter when you turn the key. It connects to the starter solenoid before you put the positive lead back on the starter.
The headlight relay for a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada is typically located in the underhood fuse and relay center, which is found near the battery. To access it, you may need to remove the cover of the fuse box to identify the specific relay for the headlights. Refer to the diagram on the fuse box cover or the owner's manual for the exact location and labeling of the relay.
Being that there is a proverbial ton of relays in vehicles, you will have to be alot more specific as to which relay you are looking for. If it is the starter relay you are looking for try the driver side fender.
disconnect the battery then You have to pull the air breather off the top take out the radiator fan in the front of the car then you can take the two starter bolts out. Disconnect the starter wires and you can pull the starter out from the top.
I had the same problem on my 99 and a buddy on his 97.The positive wire harness(the one that hooks to the battery, starter, starter relay, etc) Has a break in it some where.Ours was broke or nearly broke on the starter solenoid. The crimped lug was broken.Sometimes it would start and other times it wouldn't.Check it, It may be the reason.
