Your engine may be running in open loop due to a defective coolant temperature sensor, which on my 1991 Cherokee L6 is located on the thermostat housing. This is different from the coolant temperature sender, which is located at the rear of the valve head next on the driver's side.
If the engine temperature gets too hot and the engine fail - safe cooling mode is activated the engine will eventually shut off
If the chip that tells the engine what to do overheats , the car will shut off. Most cars do not have such a devise.
first up, if engine gets hot, turn off a/c. next find out why engine is heating up and fix the problem . other than that the only way to cool engine down is to shut it off and open hood to allow air to circulate quicker to keep running engine if it has overheatewd, is asking for expensive damage
because when a car is on to long it will shut off because it was on to long
If you've already changed the CPS, there's also a sync sensor, and a latch solenoid. Either one might get weak and fail when hot. Also, check your oil viscosity and the oil pressure sensor because the motor will automatically shut down to prevent damage if the sensor says oil pressure is too low.
90" topaz mercury is getting hot and shut off and the starts when it cool off.? what is the cause of this and how do i fix it?
you do not check the oil in the engine and the engine gets too hot
A 2000 Jeep automatic that is not shifting correctly after it gets hot might have something wrong with the speed sensor that is located in the transmission. The speed sensor tells the transmission what gear to shift into at certain speeds.
The cause is most likely " fuel line vapor lock" This is caused when the fuel line is too close to or improperly insulated from the heat of the engine. When the engine runs and gets hot, the heat effects the fuel in the fuel line by vaporizing the fuel before it gets to the engine. The fuel is not liquid like it should be when it gets to the engine. A quick check to do is when the problem happens, lift hood and let the engine cool down for 5 to 10 minutes, then try to start it. If engine starts, it most likely points to "vapor lock". You can move the line or wrap it, insulate it to keep it from occurring.
First Off, your HDD might fail or it will get hot enough your computer will shut down then your HDD will fail either way if it gets hot it fails
This is not true. If it gets too hot, it will shut down, but will not break unless you keep pushing the button or something to break it.
The radiator fan motor is electric. The fan motor fuse may be blown. The fan motor may need to be changed. The engine should not be operated when it is running hot.
