I had same problem with my 2001 Isuzu rodeo sport with 53K miles.......and just put a new battery in and presto, no more abs light.....I think if your battery is weak (does the car have any problems starting and is electrical good?), it will trigger the abs light.....it did on mine.
Lots of problems could cause the light to come on. First off, check your fluid levels; second, take it to a mechanic.
Which lights?
could be a gasket that has finally gaveway and the smell of oil is the oil burning on the engine.
My Trooper did the same thing and I replaced the fluid and filter and added a separate trans fluid cooler and that fixed the problem.
does it have a door ajar switch. if it does, may be stuck or faulty. there is no door jar switch
There are several different vehicles that come with the 4L30E transmission. Some of these vehicles include BMW 3, Isuzu Rodeo, and Cadillac Catera.
i'll go to AutoZone to get free pcm code and then post that code in this forum. i'd some what similar problem.it was EGR valve, pretty sure....anyway get pcm code when CEL come on and let us know.
A simple continuity test will do, check for continuity from the antenna to the plug. Not much goes wrong with these though I would look at the plug connection at the back of the stereo sometimes they are loose and come apart.
U/S=up shift...if you have a manual transmission, you'll find that you won't see it come on once you get to 5th gear. Below 5th, it's tell you when you reach recommended shift points.
There should be a button labeled "Power" for me it's in front of the hand brake. Look around, im sure you'll find it. And to activate it you just press it and on your dash the light should come up.
Your mom.
Did you check the drive belt to see if it broke?
