Check the wiring on the starter. Also check all grounds
You have a short circuit/over current problem with the circuit. If the wires are not touching metal, then the starter may have failed.
The starter on a 2000 Saturn SL is located on the bottom, left side of the engine. It is powered directly by the vehicle's battery.
The starter relay is attached to and an integral part of the starter.
Have you had it checked for a leak?
Remove the positive battery cable from your 2000 Saturn battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the three starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.
As with almost ALL modern vehicles, the starter relay is attached to and an integral part of the starter.
Please visit my BIO page for a link to my Saturn help site. under the link at the bottom that says "Starter" you will find a visual reference to the location of the starter and as to what it looks like.
Look underneath engine compartment to rear?
Depending on where a person lives and where they have the repair done, the labor for replacing the starter on a 2000 Saturn SL2 will cost between $186 and $238. The cost for the parts will be $149 to $261 plus tax.
