yes definitely, bent 4 exhaust valves on my 98, and she was locked up
it does that because it has either jumped time or ....jumped time ! :) :)
If your engine has a timing belt and is an interference engine you can bend valves and cause a bunch of damage. If it is not an interference engine you can simply replace the belt and or pulleys and all should be good. Please note that if you were driving at a high rpm when belt jumped you could still have damaged valves even if its not an interference engine
That engine uses a timing chain. Chances are very slim that the chain jumped time. However if it did jump time the engine would not run and the engine would have no compression. Tell us what the symptoms are.
Check the timing on the Corsica for jumped timing. Most likely the engine is firing at the wrong time causing it not to start.
labor time to replace engine in a 1984 chevy c60
Need more info like what size engine and what are the symptoms.
since it is an interference engine, alot can be damaged, really depends on how much it jumped,if say one tooth you probably ok to just replace timing belt. If say the belt jumped 25 teeth or belt broke, then possible major damaged could result like valves bent, piston damaged, overhead cams damaged. now if your asking in theory what happens then this is what happens: the relationship between dual cams ( camshafts ) and crankshaft timing goes off to the point where the relationship between them is wrong to not let the engine physically turn correctly,( causing mechanical damage ), and electronically off for engine firing position ,cam sensor, spark plug firing timing and order. Either way it is not pretty !
Take the air cleaner off and push the gas pedal all the way down and hold it. You will need another person. Then have them crank the engine over and you be looking at the top of the 2 injectors and see if it is blowing fuel / mist up and out of the throttle body when engine is turning over. If it is blowing out instead of sucking then the timing chain has jumped time. It should ALWAYS suck in and NEVER blow out.
Check the 1989 Honda Accords timing. If the engine has jumped time then the engine will buck and sputter.
when they were at the park or one of them was walking home from the movies. they can get jumped any time. that when the greasers get jumped
Check the timing for the 90 Corsica. the most likely cause for the engine not starting is it has jumped time causing the engine to fire at the wrong time.
that would be your engine, it cause your car to die with no way to crank it or anything, that happened to my Jetta once, it jumped time allot.
