Some Pontiacs came from the factory with Chevy engines. If this is the case on your 79 firebird, then the transmission will bolt up to a 350 Chevy. If the car came with a Pontiac engine, then the bolt pattern is different and would not bolt up.
Does your Firebird have a Chevy or Pontiac motor in it?If it is a Pontiac motor, you will need an adapter from Summit or Jeg's.Also, it could be a different output shaft length and spline count.
its bolted to the motor
it will fit. you will have to use camaro frame mounts.
depends on the type of motor it can fit into any 80s threw 70s Chevy scootsdale truck. Chevy camarows and Pontiac firebird. Chevy monti carlos just depends on the type of motor
yes and no yes in that it can be made to fit no in that a Chevy transmission has a different bolt pattern than Oldsmobile's, Buick's, and Pontiac's. the motor mounts are also probably going to be different. However you can change the motor mounts and there are companies that make adapters to use a Chevy transmission with a Oldsmobile, Buick, or Pontiac engine. I have seen an adapter to use a ford transmission with a Chevy engine.
Yes, you will need the Pontiac motor mounts, and the transmission for the Pontiac has a different bolt pattern than the chevy, so a Buick, Olds, Pontiac turbo 350 or 400 will be required if it is an automatic. If a manual transmission is used you will need the Pontiac specific flywheel and bellhousing. Pontiac also has the starter, battery, and fuel pump mounted on the opposite side from Chevy, so you will need to address these issues.Overall it is not that hard of a swap, the parts from a similar year Firebird all fit the Camaro, making it pretty much a bolt in.
can you clean a egr valve on a 1995 pontiac firebird with a 3.,4 litre motor
The 1986 Firebird came with either a 2.8L V6 or a 5.0L V8
The turbo 400 transmition is widely used, it just depends on what motor it was originally bolted to.
The 1986 Pontiac Firebird fan relay switch can be found on the back of the fan motor. The relay switch is connected to the fan motor by two retaining screws.
Between 165 and 225 depending on exactly which model. http://www.thirdgen.org/1987-pontiac-firebird
you can put a blower on nearly any motor
