First check that theer is enough Power Steering fluid in it, if that doesn't solve the problem then it needs reapir or replacement when it gets worse.
Sounds like a power steering pump. May just be low on fluid. Get a suction gun at Auto Zone, suck out all the old power steering fluid and replace with new fluid. If that doesn't fix it, you may need to replace the power steering pump.
Most common is the whining or squealing noise when you turn the steering wheel. But this may mean you just need fluid. Also, look for fluid leaks.

Okay, I'm not sure which model you have but on some of them the power steering pump is actually part of the steering column. On these you need to remove the steering column to replace it. It's actually an electric pump rather than the traditional fluid pump under the hood.
