Your turbo 350 transmission goes in reverse no worries but you can hear the revs drop off in drive but wont move?

my Chevy silvarado with 350 trany will go in reverse but not in forward gears checked fluid levels by pulling pan only 1/2 quart in bottom of pan added 6 quarts is this enough ?
