Colonists reacted with anger. They were not happy that they had to pay more for things, buy only British boats, white crue, and other items. Everything they had they could only be acquired by either home made, grown, or bought from the pricey British. Such act resulted in boycott (not buying British materials, producing it themselves.), and smuggling (sneaking around and secretly buying products from other countries) . The colonists were very angry, and had felt taken advantage of, which they were. The British were selfish by doing so. The act caused people to go into poverty.
