There are many books and links about the world after WWII. The aftermath of World War II left the world with two superpowers. The United States and the USSR(Russia). Also with the conclusion of WWII the world entered the nuclear age. With the USA developing the atomic bomb in the mid forties and the USSR in the late 40s. The cold war between the United States and the USSR really began with the closure of WWII.
One thing that is often forgot about the aftermath of WWII and the Cold War is that the world did gain a lot of technology. Wars really have a way of making humans come up with new technology. Another often overlooked outcome of the Cold War is the spread of low cost weapons across the world. By both the United States and Russia. Just think of all the photos of RPGs and AK47s you see in Africa and the Middle East. When superpowers make two many low cost weapons they end up everywhere.
Anyway, you should Google WWII and you will learn a ton.
